Who are The Knights of Columbus?
The Knights of Columbus are a Catholic men's fraternal benefit society that was formed to render financial aid
to members and their families. Mutual aid and assistance are offered to sick, disabled and needy members and their families.
Social and intellectual fellowship is promoted among members and their families through educational, charitable, religious,
social welfare, war relief and public relief works.
The history of the Order shows how the foresight of Father Michael J. McGivney, whose cause for sainthood is being
investigated by the Vatican, brought about what has become the world's foremost Catholic fraternal benefit society. The Order
has helped families obtain economic security and stability through its life insurance, annuity and long-term care programs,
and has contributed time and energy worldwide to service in communities.
The Knights of Columbus has grown from several members in one council to more than 13,000 councils and 1.7 million
members throughout the United States, Canada, the Philippines, Mexico, Poland, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Panama,
the Bahamas, the Virgin Islands, Guatemala, Guam and Saipan. Within the MD State Council, the Order has grown to over 26,000
members, and currently is represented by 29 Districts under the MD State Deputy.
Our Purpose:
The purpose of this organization is to support our Parish at St. Mary's of the Assumption, as well as building strong
family ties and community support through our Surge for Service Programs. As Knights, we are bound to not only serve
our Church, but to protect and defend life in ALL stages! We hope to add new members so we will be able to grow and
expand. We also want to have fun while when we are together and working on projects. By developing relationships and friendships,
the organization will become even stronger.

Our Mission:
Our mission is to further promote the interests of our organization and our members to the community as well as our
Catholic Faith within our Church by serving our Priests, Decons, and Religious. We strive to make a difference by educating
the public and striving to be a positive role model for others in our Church to follow and desire to become Knights of Columbus.
